"Proof a great quality audience is better than a SBD"

I dunno JOTS. It's one of my favorite audience recordings as well. But since the second set does not seem to be available as a soundboard, I dont know how you can say that. I i'm not sure you will still believe that after hearing the second set jam off the vault reels...

Hey Cliff, I never actually checked but kind of assumed it wasn't available in SBD due to the fact that I have seen you say good things numerous times about this AUD ( given your often voiced anti AUD stance ).

Don't get me wrong I prefer the SBD 9 times out of 10. It's just sometimes a great AUD really captures what it's all about. For instance the crispness of Billy's cymbals on some 73 AUD's. I can think of quite a few aud recordings ( usually FOB or even right on stage even better ) that capture the spacial relation of the sound better than a sbd. That's the thing about the band that doesn't always come through on recordings I think - the way they manipulated and played with the tones and sound and bounced it around, sometimes that was just as much a part of the magic and brilliance as the notes themselves. In the case of 6-22-73, the soundboard sounds just fine until you compare it to the aud ( imo ), the sbd for one seems to have lower levels and the audience captures more of the high end. 10-9-82 ( which I know isn't you bag ) is another example of an almost perfect sounding mix imo. And I know we disagree on 9-28-75 but I'll take the AUD any day over the SBD.

One thing I know we agree on is this is a great Other One

It kind of pisses me off that they have so much of this music in the vault that we don't have access to. I wish they would release this all this stuff!
